Train-riding Chilean dog wins hearts and a happy rescue
A stray dog in Valparaiso, Chile, earned social media stardom recently, when he learned to ride the Merval train, became adored by commuters and consistently evaded authorities. Pepe Merval (as he was named) would travel and sleep without bothering passengers. A photo of passengers standing so Pepe could sleep uninterrupted went viral and made him a celebrity. Now, thanks to an outpouring of concern for the dog, Merval worker Leonor Zamora is fostering him. Pepe been neutered and received veterinary care and up for adoption. “It seems Pepe realized he has a nice bed and plenty of food here with me,” said Zamora.
